Mum's Bday Celebration!

My mum's birthday falls on Valentine's Day! So she must be a very romantic person! Hee! We had dinner at Brotzeit @ Vivocity. It's a German restaurant and we ordered German knuckle, sausages and German beer.

Mum is into cool shirts lately. We got her a Christian Audigier top for Christmas and it's in hot pink! For her birthday, we got a colourful top from Desigual. Btw, I am wearing the Desigual top Dear got me for VDay. Desigual is becoming a very popular brand! For Gisele's ManYue at Er's place, Ed Tan and Keith were both wearing Desigual too!! Haha!

The sausages were very yummy, all of different flavours, like a spicy one, one with buttery cheese, one with veg bits.

That's Eunice and Adriel with the only glass of beer we ordered... bleah.. I am not into alcohol at all!!

Thereafter we adjourned to my place so that Adriel and Eunice can help me put up a painting in the living room. Check out the beautiful results here! We also presented Nis' her belated birthday present - a digital camera so that she doesn't have to resort to only taking pics on her handphone! And we all know how much she likes to snap the most random of things, like the office toilet! And now she gets to take all the unique paintings Adriel paints for the art gallery they are planning! Will post more details when things get more firmed up. =) You heard it here first!

Dearest Mummy, you are really the best Mum in the whole wide world! I have never seen anyone as generous and self-sacrificing as you are! Thanks for pouring so much blessings into my life! Everytime I just make a small mention about needing something or wondering about something, you will actually remember and find a way to get it for me or search the info for me! I thank God everyday for you and may you continue to stay healthy, youthful and full of life! Love you lots!!

Flowers for Charity

In a bid to raise money for needy students, the whole Bank was mobilised to ....... make paper flowers! It was quite a fun experience although not all attempts were successful! See below for some silly photos we took with a HUGE bouquet of paper flowers to be presented to the principal of the school. Had to put all the pics up cos they are so funny!! Disclaimer: We did NOT make these flowers!

Happy VDay 2009!!

13 and 14 Feb 2009

This is the first year Joe and me are celebrating VDay as a married couple! Hee! Have things changed from last year? Read last year's account here!

I actually caught Joe trying to order flowers and I told him dun need too. Hahha, but well, he still did! I wasn't at my desk when the delivery person called and my colleague answered! She exclaimed very loudly, "Your flowers are here, go collect them!" Hee! This time around, Joe chose red roses... last year's was lilies, pure love... this year's is red roses, red hot passion! =P

We had dinner at The Central, at Joe's fav restaurant, Manhattan Fish Market. We never fail to order the Seafood Platter for 2! Yum!

We then sat by the river and enjoyed the evening breeze! Of yes, of course, only after doing some shopping, not me but Joe! You can read his account here! Blessed Dear with a polo-T. He also bought me a dark green Desigual long-sleeved top!

It was a simple night out but hey we dun need fireworks to have a good time together! =)

On VDay itself, spent the morning doing housework together! Our cleaner has "sacked" us! Hahha no lah, just that she wants to stop for 2 months to help her fren with her business... sigh... then by evening, I had to get dinner ready. I spent almost 2 hours in the kitchen...! Imagine! And only for two simple dishes! Sigh... need to improve my skills!!

Then it came to the best part - chocolate fondue! It was dark and rich!

Dear dear, thank you for being my Valentine this year and many more years to come! You are my best fren, the one I can have fun with, the one I can count on to be there for me all the time, all the way! Like you said, this year, we are going to fall in love with each other all over again! I LOVE YOU!

Sushi Making Attempt

My sis is an adventurous gal, always trying out new stuff and experimenting with cooking as well. She thought of having a 'Sushi Party' which turned out really fun! It's really easy to make as well.

Step:1 Cooking the Rice

You need to get the Japanese short-grained rice. Cook it as per normal rice.

Step 2: Prepping the Rice

Pour in the Japanese vinegar specially meant for sushi. Ensure that the vinegar is evenly spread over the rice, use sideways 'cutting' motion to mix the vinegar with the rice. Fan the rice to cool it down.

Step 3: Making the sushi

Prepare a bowl of water and wet your hands before you attempt to shape the rice into sushi. Without wetting your hands, the rice will stick to your fingers and palm. Then add a bit of wasabi to the top of the rice and top it off with your favourite raw food, like salmon, sotong, etc. We bought the raw food from a Japanese fresh mart from Marine Parade.

Step 4: Enjoy!!

CNY 09 Round Up!

Hi all, apologies for slowing down on my blog posting again. CNY was very packed with visitations, steamboats, lo heis and movie watching.. by the time I got home each day, I just wanted to knock out! You can read more about my CNY from my hubby's entries here and here! Overall, it was a fun CNY! See below for some other pics:

The ever-adorable Jayden and Joann!

The ever mischievous Henry and Calvin!

Mummy dearest!

Kids and young adults playing mahjong! No worries, no money involved!

Hey, what do I see here? Grown men playing with sparklers!!

Bubbles delight!

Yummy steamboat!!

I also invited my dearest cg over to my place for a meal. Instead of steamboat, we had "chicken boat", aptly suggested by Junhan. It was fun chit chatting and seeing grown men going crazy while playing Wii!!

We also hosted Joe's colleagues over at our place for the very first steamboat at Hougang Nest! The simple soup of boiling ikan bilis in water turned out really tasty! It was great company but I din take much photos, too busy eating! Joe should be posting some pics when he gets them from his colleagues.

Our department also had our long awaited Crab Outing at Uncle Leong's! Thank goodness we didn't have to wait another year for it to come to pass!!

It was an eventful CNY!
